The U.S. economy is in flux—and here in Delray Beach, the impact is hitting home. Due to sweeping federal cutbacks, Eat Better Live Better (EBLB), a beloved Delray-based nonprofit dedicated to feeding the community with dignity, recently lost 75% of a critical USDA grant. These funds helped nourish at-risk families, and the timing couldn’t be worse—many school-age children are now without the meals they typically receive during the school year.
The funding loss has placed a significant strain on EBLB’s ability to continue providing healthy, nutrient-dense meals to those who need them most.
“Now more than ever, families are on the brink of crisis,” said Debra Tendrich, founder of Eat Better Live Better. “They need more than hope—they need healthy food, real support, and a path forward. With kids out of school and missing daily lunches, the need is urgent. EBLB is that lifeline—and our ability to serve depends on the community stepping up with us.”
In true Delray fashion, local leaders and residents are stepping up. A passionate group of community members has come together to organize a benefit concert to help fill the funding gap and support the families served by EBLB.

As Lisa Walsh beautifully put it, “No matter how little or much you can give, the smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention.”
